Pleasant Homecoming

It seems that when one gets closer to home after being gone for some time, there is a certain excitement and anticipation that comes in the last few miles. We can hardly wait. We want to get back to the comfort of our four walls, our bed, our yard, our church, and the list goes on. We had a few surprises when we returned a few days ago. Our yard had burst into blossoms. What a joy to behold! However, with it comes the weeds and the snails. Ah, the vicious circle: Plant, Water, Tend, and Reap. But that's okay, the pleasantries outweigh all the labor. Guess pulling, hoeing, watering, etc., are things to do until we head for that final trip home. It's hard to imagine what beauty is in store in our heavenly home. Just think, we are getting closer - in fact, we may be only a few miles away.

Disclaimer:
I cannot take credit for our beautiful yard, except part of its design. This is one thing my husband loves doing and tends to with a passion, along with some moderation, lots of Roundup, drip irrigation and special sprinkler systems. He doesn't want anyone to touch it, and says when he can no longer take care of it, it is time to sell. I worry because an acre of bloom is a lot, but he is a tough-old-bird as many of you know.

PS: If you look on the fence in the picture with the tree roses, there is a blue jay. He has been with us since a baby. At first, he would holler from the roof, and we would talk back (See what retirement can do. We are now spending our time talking to a bird!!!???). Well, to go on with my story, this is his second season with us, and he follows my husband around the yard, hopping along beyond him jabbering (guess telling of all the things going on in his day). He's quite a character, and wouldn't you know it, he got in one of the pictures.

Bro. Hopper,
Do you remember that sweet little girl that used to love to come get candy from you every night at church? You were her hero...
Her backyard would love your attention =)
Love you both...and your yard is to die for!

To All:
Thank you for your comments. I have passed them along to Bro. Hopper and you have made his day (or week). He is all smiles. PS: Katie, he still eats that candy.

Wow, I could use some lessons from your husband on how to fix my yard up! I have a small one but even takes a lot of work, I can't imagine taking care of an acre! My hat's off to him. Ask him to send some talent vibes this way. lol
Beautiful yard!
Caroline

Sis. Hopper - What a lovely yard you have. It looks like the perfect place to drink coffee and read a good book in the early morning. Plus, the photo opportunities are endless! Sam and I will have to stop by there this year if we make it to Camp Meeting.

Caroine,
Yes, it does take a lot of work, that's for sure. But it gets his mind off all the negatives the doctors tell him. He just gets on his electric scooter, basket filled with gardening tools) and buzzes from one end of the property to the other caring for his babies.

Monica,
It is the perfect place to have a cup of coffee and read. Look forward to you and your family visiting during camp meeting. Think Kellee is going to have something special for her San Jose friends that week at our place. She did last year and it was so much fun seeing everyone we'd went to church with for years.

Wow! What an awesome job Bro. Hopper does with the yard! I'm impressed! I believe it's great therapy for his mind, body and soul.

When I feel stressed about something or upset, I go out into our cherry orchard and cut shoots or break off little dead branches from the trees and just talk to the Lord (or myself :-)). I always feel so much better after that - being out in nature - what God created. Plus the bonus of exercise.

I LOVE the bird story! Hope you enjoy those birds, cuz we hate them. Sorry...:-( They just love our cherries so much, so we don't want them around!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful yard! Love you two lots.

Tena,
Yes, I think it is great therapy for him too. Our bird, now named "Jabber" can be bothersome. The jays have run off the doves, the sparrows, and all the other little birdies. The jays can be so hateful - they think they own the place.
