Don't Be A Goat, Be Content

Why do we tend to think the grass is always greener
on the other side of the fence?

Remember, if the grass on the other side is meant for us to enjoy, the Lord will have an open gate available (somewhere and at some time) for us to go through. No gate? Well, perhaps the other side looks like the one in the picture - ugly and barren. If so, try to be thankful and content where you are.

Hi Karen, That's a funny picture. I do think we need to learn to be content. Being thankful as well as content means we don't become apathetic. Helen

Funny! And true! That's look painful!!!

This made me think of people who take pictures out in fields and they look so pretty. However, upon close inspection, the "pretty" field is full of prickly weeds and blooms that trigger allergies. I don't even want to go there for just a picture.

Great post and cute pic, too.

You need to publish your pics and thoughts in a devotional style book. This one is especially great! Your writings lend to the thought provoking style that I enjoy!

Helen,
We live in times that make it hard to remain content. It's something we need to reacquaint ourselves with.

Jaime,
Thank you. When I saw the picture, I thought, that is me - I would get stuck every time.

Rochelle,
I doubt taking this path through the fence felt good. But with pain, comes laughter (for us).

Jana,
I remember living in the valley and going into what I thought was a beautiful field, only to get "beat up" by cockleberries (or their other name, stickers).

Tracie,
Thank you. Your words are much appreciated. I have four unfinished offerings in my care. Hopefully I will gain the confidence needed to take the next step.

:O) I've had to learn this the hard way! But so glad I learned.

So true. Maybe that's why the Scripture says that godliness with contentment is great gain. We sure would keep out of trouble more if we didn't try and walk through closed doors. Great picture.

Chandra,
Oh yes, I've been privileged to this lesson more than once. Ouch!

Carol,
Contentment isn't always easy. Just look at the goat's back, he's gone for greener pastures more than once.
