NO MAN is an Island

Donne's* Quote: "No Man Is An Island, Entire of Itself..."

My Translation: Humans Do Not Thrive when Isolated from Others

* John Donne was a Renaissance minister and poet. This quote, in part, was from one of his sermons, and can be found in its entirety in his Meditation XVII Devotional writings.

True. We definitely need other people in our lives. Life can be so much richer that way.

You're my brother, You're my sister, So take me by the hand. Together we will work until He comes. There's NO foe that can defeat us, when we're walking side by side....

Lean on me, when you're not strong. I'll be your friend. I'll help you carry on...

Love you!

In the day and period of history in which we live, as one would sit in almost any place where people gather. Be it a mall, a park, Disney Lard, Magic Mountain, as people walk by you can see that there are in the midst of a crowd. Yet, by the looks upon their faces they are alone. Alone, by themselves, unaided, without help just moving through this time span we call life. So many times I have seen these among us, we humans, those who not only need but may be at the point of almost requiring a human touch in their lives. I am an outgoing personality, many times I try to say good morning, or just tip my head and smile. The change that comes over that face is beyond words!

No man is an island; I plan to help as long as I can!!!

ps
For some reason I get a feeling of sadness looking at the picture?

Agree! Every week I endeavor to reach out to new and old friends. Situations cause us to feel like isolating. I have found it is in those times I MOST need friends.

Great post!

To All,
Thank you for your comments. How many times we all would have liked to isolate ourselves but living in darkness would never allow us to show forth His marvelous light.

PS: Kathy, thank you for your kind words. It means so much to me.

Helen,
Thank you. BTW, have you read any of Donne's poetry? His insight into man seems quite amazing. Prayer and doing his best to follow the Lord definitely accounts for his views.

It's been a long time since I read Donne. Not sure I remember much, Karen.
