Not me. Today I plan to pay greater attention to the things around me, and let them lead me to the Lord.
Two nights ago I was commenting on a post on Facebook and looked at friend's Friend List, where I found the name of a friend I'd met before (through a mutual real life friend). As "becoming" friends on Facebook, we started a chat during which I realized that a good friend or ours (a neighbor and friend of his) had surgery last week. So yesterday we went to visit her and found her better than we expected. Now why would I want to ignore that which is around me?
I would say concentrating on the Lord will lead us to others in need. But there are also things (not people in need, just stuff) that need to be ignored or they will distract us from the Lord.
Helen & Kathy, I really like the different approaches in our thinking. Truthfully, when I posted I thought that concentrating on the Lord was having fellowship with Him that would lead me to spending time with friends, visiting the sick, buying things for others in need, meeting for prayer/bible study, etc. Ignoring "things" I meant as doing laundry, grocery shopping, house cleaning. But in all sincerity, even in the "things" I can take time to concentrate on the Lord.
We can so easily get distracted by being busy, in no matter which way you look at it! That is so true in my life. Between college, work, family, my home and church responsiblites, when I come down to it, how much time DO I dedicate to HIM? It's shameful!!!!
April, Sometimes it is just nice to stop, reconnect, and then move on with our obligations and responsibilities. We all need it at various times. It was just my day to do so.

Wow, you and Helen have me thinking today...

I don't think we are contradicting each other, just exploring two ways in which we draw closer to God.
