Spread the Wealth!

Proverbs speaks about the woman who "…stretches out her hand to the poor . . ." Haven't you ever wondered what kind of poor? Poor as in dollars and cents? Or poor in a different way? Ironically, every time we hear the word poor we automatically think of someone who is without financially, without clothing, food and shelter. But what about the man or woman who is rich with material goods, but because of his/her drive have no genuine friends? Or the young person whose desire to be different has overstepped the boundaries of friendships, taking part in lifestyles foreign and frightening to the average teen? Or the senior person who is confined in surroundings that warrant no contact with others? Couldn't these be defined examples of poor? It is a sad state, if we negligent those who are spiritually (and mentally) poor for theirs is a poverty far beyond not having "dollars and cents".

We must continually be about the Master's business, following His words by caring for those less fortunate than us. In so doing we will truly be rich, and the less fortunate will too. Never should we measure someone by dollars or cents. For we all had nothing until Jesus stretched out His hands and gave to us spiritually. In Him, we know what it is to be rich indeed.

So let's spread the wealth!

That is so very true.
We are rich for knowing Jesus, we must share Him with others.......

Last week, when we were doing outreach, my daughter and I began talking to this man and somehow he brought up the subject of sharing the wealth. He was talking about money, but as he was talking a thought came to my mind. After he talked for a few minutes, I finally cut in and said, "You know, the whole reason we are out today is because we are trying to share the wealth." I pointed to my heart and told him that we had wealth within that we wanted to share with folks. He said, he liked that and maybe he would come visit our church sometime. If we have been born again, we are rich indeed and need to share it. Thanks for this post.
